Alleged heroin kingpin arrested
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The biggest heroin drug ring in Buffalo history has been broken up.

After two years of investigating, police have arrested 33-year-old Eury Rodriguez of Queens.

State Police said Rodriguez's drug distribution network included New York City, Buffalo and Rochester.

They believe he trafficked more than seven kilos of heroin; an estimated 350 thousand bags of the drug, with a street value of $3.5 million.

"Dismantling of the organization was huge in respect to the amount of heroin that was put out in the street," said Lt. Martin McKee, New York State Police.

Rodriguez was named in a 51-count drug-related indictment last March, but he was able to escape. He was tracked down Thursday and arrested.

Previously, Rodriguez had been deported to the Dominican Republic after being convicted on drug charges.

He'll be arraigned in State Supreme Court on Tuesday.
