Friday was a busy day for local seafood suppliers in the Rochester area. With Lent just beginning, many people flocked to one of the largest seafood suppliers, Jack's Upstate Fish Market.
Jack's expects to sell around 400 pounds of fish each day of Lent. The most popular items are fried fish and shrimp.
During all holidays, Jack's says fish flies off the shelves. By lunchtime on Friday, they knew lent was here.
"The usual people that come during the holiday or Lent time, you know, we say hello to them and hope they come back every week until the end of Lent," said Irving Feldman, store owner. "Then they stop eating fish."
Jack's Upstate Fish Market is located in the Rochester Public Market.
