The Wyoming County Community Health System will become the third outlying health system to affiliate with the University of Rochester Medical Center.

The other two health systems are Thompson Health in Canandaigua and Lakeside Health in Brockport.

Officials say it is often hard for the region's outlying hospitals to maintain services and staff, so affiliations with larger health systems gives them access to more resources.
