RG&E Goes Scratch and Sniff to Educate Customers About Natural Gas
Next month's Rochester Gas and Electric bill has a scratch and sniff insert so that customers can find out what natural gas smells like.
The company wants people to be able to detect any leaks so they know when to call 911.
While natural gas is odorless, RG&E adds a distinct odor, similar to rotten eggs, so people can easily detect it.
