Kayex Holdings announced that the Kayex Crystal Growing Technologies plant in Rochester will be closing.
Kayex, which is part of SPX Thermal Product Solutions, manufactures thermal processing equipment.
Kayek says 57 out of 65 jobs are expected to be cut. The remaining employees will have an opportunity to apply for open positions other SPX locations. Employee layoffs will begin May 16th.
According to Kim Augsburger, Kayek's Vice President of Human Resources, the company says its closing the plant due to extremely difficult global economic conditions in the solar marketplace and SPX's efforts to focus its future growth strategy on its Flow Technology business.
