Recipe: Frozen Fruit Smoothie with Oatmeal, Peanut Butter, Wheat Germ and Yogurt

SERVES:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup low fat milk

  • 2 Tbs uncooked quick cooking oatmeal

  • 2 Tbs wheat germ

  • 6-8 ounces nonfat yogurt (plain or vanilla)

  • 1/2 frozen banana, thinly sliced

  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries

  • 2-3 Tbs unsweetened, natural, smooth peanut butter
  • PROCEDURE:

    Add 2 Tbs each of quick cooking oats and wheat germ to the blender, add 1/2 cup milk, put the top on and puree that to help soften the oatmeal.

    Let that go for a minute of two and then add 1 6-ounce tub nonfat yogurt, 1/2 thinly sliced frozen banana, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 cup frozen strawberries and 2-3 Tbs unsweetened, natural, smooth peanut butter, put the lid back on top and blend it up.

    HINTS:

    Add something like powdered Spiru-tein for added protein if you like.
