Stepping Stones Learning Center will be able to move to a larger building thanks to capital funding secured by State Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle.
Stepping Stones officials say they have outgrown their current location and are in the middle of a capital campaign to move to the new site. Now they will be able to do so because of $100,000 in capital funding secured by Morelle.
Stepping Stones will move into the former Chase Pitken building on Hudson Avenue, giving them 15,000 additional square feet.
They also plan to provide full-day child care and expanded after-school programs.
Stepping Stones is a not-for-profit organization for children with and without special needs.
With the extra funding, the learning center can set a closing date on the new building soon, and hopes to be up and running by the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
