Dino Zoo
Now that school is back in session, students can learn about paleontology by visiting their own personal little "Dinosaur Zoo." This app may serve as a model for how encyclopedias of the near future may work, because rather than dry text on paper, users can interact with the ancient creatures and see how they may have acted.
Tap a dinosaur's nose and it tries to bite, tap near its mouth to throw it a snack and tap near the other end to see it defecate. Yet if these dinosaurs are harassed too much, they might even try to "break" out of their pens.
Aside from the virtual hands-on stuff, there is also plenty of information on dinosaurs as a whole and particular species.
"Dinosaur Zoo" is an iPad app for $3.99.
Xperica
App Wrap: "Dino Zoo," "Xperica"
Flashbacks to high school science class usually leave people in cold sweats. But now, the app "Xperica" lets users easily learn a dozen or so scientific principles through hands-on experiments in a virtual lab.
Users can touch different parts of the scientific setup to get a greater understanding of how it all works, and how adjusting one part affects the experiment as a whole.
"Xperica" is an iOS app that starts off as a free download with a handful of experiments. Users can also download an experiment pack for $3.99.
