Esposito Resigning from County Legislature
Monroe County legislator Vinnie Esposito announced on his Facebook page Monday evening that he is resigning his post to take a job with Governor Cuomo's administration.
Esposito announced his new role will be Deputy Regional Director of the Finger Lakes Office for Empire State Development. He will work closely with the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council to expand business opportunities and create jobs throughout the Rochester area.
Esposito said he will resign from office effective July 20th. He just won re-election to the 16th District in Irondequoit back in November after serving one term.
A Monroe County spokesman tells us the procedure to fill a vacant legislature seat requires the head of the party that the resigning legislator represents to recommend a replacement to the president of the legislature.
Monroe County Democratic Party sources tell us that Irondequoit town board member and former county legislator Stephanie Aldersley will be recommended to fill the post until November. She could then run in the election to keep her seat.
