Legislature Rejects Publicly Funded Ads Bill
Republicans in the Monroe County Legislature voted down a bill Monday night
that would have prevented elected officials from appearing in publicly funded ads.
The bill also applied restrictions to publicly funded ads sponsored by entities related to the county, for example the Airport Authority. Democrats argued there is value to the elected official by appearing in the ads.
The bill was defeated 3-2.
