TORONTO, ON — The Buffalo Bills are back on top in the AFC East with a 23-0 win over the Washington Redskins in Toronto.

Remember, it was only a couple years ago that Mike Shanahan chose to coach the Redskins instead of the Bills. On Sunday, he was handed his first career shutout, courtesy of the Bills.

The Bills had struggled at the Rogers Centre quite a bit over the last three years. Much of the reason it felt like a home game was Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick had a connection with Scott Chandler. The two hooked up for the first time in the first quarter with a 20-yard touchdown strike to give the Bills the early lead.

The Skins were the top pass rushing team in the NFL, but the Bills held a 9-2 edge in the sacks department.

Jarius Byrd's sack forced a long field goal attempt, that was blocked. Marcell Dareus recorded 2½ sacks in the middle, playing for the injured Kyle Williams, and had a huge role in the FG block.

Up 13-0 in the second half, Fred Jackson took off. He followed a big hole for a 43-yard gain into Washington territory. He had 193 all-purpose yards.

The run set up Fitzpatrick to Chandler again. Chandler ties a Bills record with 6 touchdown passes in a season. He has plenty of time to break it.

Then the D finished the job, with nine sacks, two interceptions, and they held Washington under 200 yards as they complete the Bills first shutout since 2006.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Even though the Bills pulled off their first win in Toronto to go 5-2 on the season, fans we spoke with say it's time to end the series north of the border.

“It's not, it's not the Ralph. Come on. I mean it's Canadian guys rooting for the Bills. It's not our home field. You come here to the Ralph and this place would be going absolutely berzerk right now," said Ed Schmatz.

"I'm always happy when the Bills win. I wish they were in this town right now to win the game,” said Dennis Orlow.

There's one more year left on the contract for the Bills’ Toronto Series.
