Fred Jackson powers Bills once again
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — One of the keys to the Bills 23-0 shutout of the Redskins was the play of running back Fred Jackson. It seems like he's among the top performers in every big win, and Sunday's game was a prime example of that.
Jackson put up 194 all purpose yards, including 120 on the ground. His biggest play was on the first snap of the second half. Finding a big hole, the 30-year-old took off and gained 43 yards - setting up Scott Chandler's second touchdown. That put the Bills up 20 points; a deficit the Skins could not recover from.
Through the season's first seven games, Jackson has gained 721 yards from scrimmage, joining OJ Simpson and Thurman Thomas as the only Bills players to top the 700 yard mark this early in the year.
“That's great company to be in. As football players, nobody did it better than those guys, so that's a great breath to be mentioned in with those guys, and hopefully I can continue to perform at a high level,” said Jackson.
“He keeps doing it. He's our guy. Whenever we need a play, he seems to be making the play. Whether it's in the pass game or running the ball, or breaking five tackles. Whatever it is, he's been our guy this year and I can't say enough about him,” said Ryan Fitzpatrick, quarterback.
