It's just a few days until longtime Sabres play-by-play man Rick Jeanneret receives a top honor.

Jeanneret will receive the Foster Hewitt Award and be recognized by the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto on Monday.

Most important to Jeanneret is that his family will be a part of the event, including his 92-year-old mother.

"When this all started, and it started with the Sabres Hall of Fame, it was Mike Gilbert who talked me into it, because I was going to wait until my career was over before I allowed my name to be nominated for any of the halls," Jeanneret said. "Once I sat down and talked to him, and we talked about my mother, and thought that maybe we should do this while she's still around and she can still appreciate it."
