Rochester Lancers Fall to Syracuse
The Rochester Lancers played the Syracuse Silver Knights at home Saturday. This game was the first of three to be played at home for the Lancers.
Three and a half minutes into the match-up, Gary Boughton put the Lancers on the board with a three-point shot. Silver Knights’ Ryan Pierce responded later in the first, making the score 3-2.
In the second period, Syracuse was able to take the lead but with goals from Mauricio Salles, Doug Miller and another by Boughton, Rochester overpowered the Knights, making the score 9-6 at half-time.
At one point early in the second half, Rochester had a 13-6 lead over the Knights but that did not last long. Nelson Santana's three-point shot made it to the back of the net and Pierce had another goal for Syracuse.
Syracuse’s Andriy Budnyy was able to tie up the score 13-13 in the fourth and after quite a fight with only a few seconds left on the clock, two more points were scored by each team, sending the game into over time.
All in all, the Knights pulled through with a 17-15 victory.
When the two teams played earlier last month, the Knights won 15-14 with the game winning goal with just over a minute left to play.
Rochester plays at home again on Monday, February 18th against the Wichita Wings. The game starts at 7:00 p.m.
