The Nazareth student accused of behind drunk behind the wheel, leading to a deadly crash, pleaded not guilty to driving drunk on Thursday. Danielle Pitcher's license has been suspended.
Nazareth student, Gabrielle Acevedo, died in the head-on crash in January on French Road in Pittsford.
Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles says the case will be presented before a grand jury where more serious charges may be leveraged.
"In this case, the DWI common law was filed with Ms. Pitcher because it fit the facts and circumstances as they were known the night the crash occurred,” said Duckles. “But certainly nothing regarding the tickets that were already issued prevent us from going to the grand jury and presenting more serious charges."
Pitcher's attorney says she is making efforts to move forward from this.
"She's still attending Nazareth, she's still welcomed there. She's going through a very tough time right now, but she's doing her very best,” said Ed Fiandach.
The case has been adjourned until March 24th.
