HSBC Blocks Some Debit Cards
HSBC said it has blocked a small number of New York customers from using their debit cards to protect against potential fraud.
Customers will not be held liable for unauthorized transactions and HSBC said impacted customers can still bank online or in person at a branch.
HSBC will not issue new cards because customers will automatically be transferred to First Niagara accounts as of Friday. A spokesperson for HSBC says customers transferring to First Niagara should soon receive their new cards, which can be used after Friday's transfer.
