Family Remembers Teen Shooting Victim

The family of a teenage boy gunned down Sunday night is devastated over the tragic loss.
This is the second time in 14 months Raven's Cooper's family has lost a loved one to violence. In May of last year, his cousin Samuel Maldonado was shot and killed. Cooper's family members describe their loss as unreal.
"I just seen him for the last time. It was daylight. He was leaving. He was happy and smiling. I just knew that my brother, he was having a good time and I'm like all right brother, I'll see you later."
Later, never came for Cooper's older sister, Whintey Elliott.
"It just came too fast and I didn't get the chance to say what I had to say to my baby brother and I'm going to miss him so much," said Elliott.
Police say Sunday night Cooper was shot and killed on Bay Street and Goodman, following an argument.
"Whoever did this is wrong. They just didn't know the real Raven," said Thekla Monroe.
Monroe was Cooper's girlfriend. She describes the real Raven as funny, giving, and a guy that would brighten up her day.
"I come from a hard place and Raven was there every step for me. He was there. He was there to hold me. He was there to tell me everything would be okay and they took that from me," said Monroe.
Cooper was enrolled in the Rochester City School District's North Star Educational Program.
He is the middle child of his mother's six children. Monroe says the one thing he wanted for her was to graduate high school, a promise she hopes to make good on.
"I'm going to make sure when I get my get my diploma, I'm gonna say Raven I did it," said Thekla.
Elliott says this ordeal is painful for her family.
"I feel like my heart is just broken. It's just torn into so many pieces," said Elliott.
For both, it's a feeling that makes saying goodbye harder to do.
"It's sad because all this violence in Rochester, it's gotta stop," said Monroe.
Funeral plans for Cooper are still pending. Meanwhile, no arrests have been made. Police encourage anyone with information to call 911.
