Police in Rochester say the man was walking down Post Avenue when a group of men confronted him.

Police believe the group began to accuse the victim of being involved in a crime. Police say the men then began to beat, stab, and cut the man.

The attackers fled after hearing the siren from a police responding to an unrelated call.

Police said the stabbing victim waved down an officer, who assisted the man. He was then transported to Strong.
