A Livingston county teenager was struck by a train and killed Thursday morning.

It happened just after 9 a.m. in the hamlet of Dalton, in the southern part of the county.

According to the Sheriff's Office, 17-year old Kaylie Mann was struck by the train near Oakland Street.

Sheriff John York says the train was traveling the speed limit of 47-miles an hour.

York said the tragedy speaks loud and clear of the dangers of being near railroad tracks at any time.
