Deputies said 37-year-old Kerry Pierson was operating a jet ski on the lake when it crashed into a concrete break-wall near Thorndale Beach around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. Deputies said her three-year-old son Samuel was on the jet-ski with her at the time of the accident.

Mercy Flight airlifted them to Strong Hospital where Samuel died several hours later. Kerry is listed in guarded condition.

Deputies said it does not appear alcohol or medications are factors in the crash.
