Local communities are getting involved to help storm victims on the East Coast.

Henrietta Fire Station Number 4 is collecting emergency supplies until 8 p.m. Thursday to deliver to people trying to rebuild on Staten Island.

The station was set up like a drive-thru so folks could drop-off donations.

Supplies needed include the basics like batteries, bottled water, garbage bags, over-the-counter medication and pet supplies. The items will go directly to neighborhoods in need.

"We went into one home and the lady said, I just need some bleach and it is gone down there, so it basic stuff like that. Gloves to handle stuff safely, dust masks because they are tearing the dry wall down. A neighborhood is going to get these supplies firsthand so that is always neat to be able to help the people hand to hand," said Lt. Hank Graf, Henrietta Fire District.

The donations will be delivered this weekend.
