The men and women of our nation's armed forces were honored Monday at a Veteran's Day ceremony hosted by Nazareth College that paid tribute to the sacrifices they've made.

Military veterans from Vietnam to the War in Iraq shared their stories and thanked the community for their support.

Nazareth and other area colleges have partnered with the Veteran's Outreach Center, and are also working to recruit veterans to Rochester.

"Eric Wheeler from MCC and I recruit nationally we go from base to base we just came back from Fort Drum last week and we don't go there necessarily as someone from MCC or someone from Nazareth College, we go there as two former military veterans ourselves and say brother, sister, these are the benefits you've got coming to you so when you leave, you’re ready for it,” said Jeremy Bagley, Veterans Services Coordinator at Nazareth College.

Local colleges also provide scholarships for student veterans through programs like The Yellow Ribbon. Their goal is to make Rochester known as the area that best re-integrates veterans and their families back into the community.
