Students at Aquinas Institute are continuing the Thanksgiving tradition of helping others.

The school collected items to fill dozens of food boxes for families in need in the area.

Students and staff started collecting non-perishable food at the beginning of the month. They also collected money to buy store gift cards to include in the food boxes. Aquinas has distributed 53 Thanksgiving meals that included turkey and all the trimmings.

"It is wonderful, the fact that our school is not a very big school student wise, but the fact that we can help such a big community,” Aquinas Senior Mikki Mowry said. “It feels really nice to be a part of this and just able to help and see families really happy on that day."

Aquinas works with local neighborhood groups and the Department of Human Services to connect with families in need.
