Walmarts nationwide today are participating in the first ever "Fill the Truck" toy drive.
Truck shaped boxes have been placed in the stores to collect toys and coats that people buy there and donate.
The donations will go towards the Salvation Army's Christmas distribution, which provides food boxes and toys to families in need in Monroe County.
Randy Orr of the Salvation Army says the need is up significantly since last year.
"It's one of those situations though that we know here in Monroe County that people are very generous," said Orr. "If they can support, they do support because they know someone else may have a greater need than they have."
Around 2,500 Walmarts in the country are taking part, including three in Monroe County.
The drive runs until 5 today.
