The First Major Snowfall Of The Season

By: YNN Staff

The First Major Snowfall Of The Season
It appears that Mother Nature is a stickler for the calendar this year. On the first full day of winter, the first real snow of the season is piling up.

Plows got to work early Saturday morning along a stretch of Interstate 490 in Downtown
Rochester.

To the southwest, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 7 o'clock Saturday night for Wyoming, Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Southern Erie Counties.

Upwards of half a foot of snow is possible.

All of the rest of Western New York is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 p.m.

That includes the rest of the counties in our area in the Genesee Valley and Western Finger Lakes Region.

Upwards of eight inches of snow is possible by the end of the afternoon.

The National Weather Service predicts winds could hit 25 to 35 mph with gusts
reaching as high as 50 mph.
