The Gateways Music Festival was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The $15,000 grant will support the festival, which is organized and run by volunteers and depends on donations.
The five-day event is held in Rochester every two years, featuring performances by classically-trained musicians of African descent.
The festival is one of 832 non-profit organizations to receive NEA Arts Works grants and one out of over 1,500 applicants this year.
