According to NHL.com, a potential deal has been reached to end the NHL lockout. The site says the League and the Union have reached agreement on the framework of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The NHL and the Players Association met face to face, starting 1:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Mediators met with them during a marathon bargaining session that reportedly lasted over 16 hours in a Midtown Manhattan hotel.

All games through January 14th have already been canceled and there is no word when games will resume.

The league had been targeting the 19th as a tentative start date for a roughly 50 game season.

The new agreement still has to be written up. Both parties then have to formally vote to approve it.

YNN will update information as it becomes available.
