Local Navy Sea Cadets got a chance to train with coaches at ROC Boxing on Sunday.

The cadets' ages range from ten to seventeen. They get to train under Rochester boxing icon Coach Dominic Arioli to help prepare them for living and working on a base or aboard a ship.

Once a month the cadets drill out of the US Naval Reserve Center in Chili.

The program is what some parents describe as a Junior ROTC.

"We're doing some basic boxing and conditioning," said ROC Boxing owner Dom Arioli. "We do a lot of that with different groups, it's a fun group, they're very disciplined, and they were very fun to work with. Showed them some basic fundamentals, and through the fundamentals of boxing, we also get into a lot of conditioning."

Arioli says if you're looking for a unique way to stick to your New Year's resolutions, boxing is a great way to shed pounds.
