Local Student Wins Nationwide Poster Contest
A local student has won a national competition to create a poster for National Hispanic Heritage Month.

The winner is Olivia Beach, a fifth grader at Saint Lawrence School. She created a poster for this year's theme of "My Rules of Safety."

The annual contest was held through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Olivia's poster had safety tips in in English and Spanish, and as the grand prize winner, she won a laptop. Instead of using the laptop, Olivia says she has other plans for it.

"For Christmas I decided to give it to my brother because it was his number one gift," she said.

The poster will be used on materials next year for Hispanic Heritage Month. The runners-up in the poster contest were students from Texas and Arizona.
