The Monroe County Federation of Social Workers has relocated its headquarters to a larger location.

A ribbon cutting was held to welcome the federation to its new headquarters on Driving Park Avenue.

The FSW says the extra space was wanted to hold meetings and activities with its community partners.

"The office space that we had was on Flanders Street. It was in the building owned by the sheriff's department and there was no meeting space for more than 50 people at the most and our members are 900," said Peg Capuano, FSW Vice President. "So when we had to have a contract ratification or a big membership meeting to let them know what's going on we always had to rent a space from somewhere. And we found that we would much prefer to have our own space."

Founded over 50 years ago, the FSW represents social workers, examiners, child care workers, investigators and others who are employed by Monroe County.
