Hostage Standoff Ends in Algeria
A four day hostage standoff in Algeria has come to an end.

According to Algeria's state news agency, the country's special forces stormed the desert gas plant and killed 11 militants, but not before they in turn executed seven hostages.

The report did not say if any hostages or militants were still alive. There is no official word on how many hostages the last group of militants were holding, but the militants themselves had reported they were still holding a Japanese, a British, three Belgian and two American workers.

Friday, the Associated Press reported an American worker was found dead at a natural gas complex in Algeria.

The report said Texas resident Frederick Buttaccio died of a heart attack as the Algerian military attempted to re-take the complex in Northern Africa.

YNN has confirmed Buttaccio has family in the Rochester area.
