Fairport Lift Bridge Closed for Repairs
Drivers who pass through the Village of Fairport on Route 250 will need to take a detour starting Monday.
The New York State Department of Transportation is closing the historic Fairport lift bridge over the Erie Canal Monday for six weeks.
The nearly century-old bridge has some issues with deteriorating steel below the deck, which needs to be replaced.
Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will still be able to use the bridge during the repair work.
