Five Arrests in Alleged Medicaid Fraud Scheme
Five people are under arrest for allegedly filling fake prescriptions for narcotics and for Medicaid fraud.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says the ringleader in this illegal scheme accessed her employer's prescription pad to write the fraudulent prescriptions.

Authorities say Shantel Williams wrote about 25 illegal prescriptions for the drug Oxycontin.

They say Williams paid Stacy Clark, Jessica Connolly, and sisters Anestacia and Bettina Wilson with cash to go to several Rochester area pharmacies to fill the prescriptions using their Medicaid benefit cards as a form of insurance payment.

All five are charged with three felonies; grand larceny in the third, falsifying business records, and offering false instrument for filing.

If convicted on all counts, they face two and a third to seven years in state prison apiece.
