Many people are familiar with the G-I Bill, but that isn't the only option for veterans. There are many benefits for veterans both at the federal and state levels.

Stradley said, "For veterans with the expeditionary medal or who served in combat there's a state benefit called the New York State Tuition Award. For veterans who are unemployed and are aged 35-60 there is a benefit that will be ending in the next several months called V-Wrap."

Stradley added, "There are other benefits such as vocational rehabilitation for veterans who may have some service related disability and the G-I Bill itself has a number of different versions. Depending on the veteran's service era and various other factors, we can decide what is the best benefit for them."

Stradley believes it's very important for veterans to get educational benefits because they are something veterans earn.

Stradley said, "Very few people these days serve and we encourage our veterans to really take advantage of the benefits they earn through their sacrifice, their hard work and military service."

Many of the benefits have deadlines so veterans are encouraged to contact the Veterans Service Agency to make sure they everything they earned.
