More than 300 people enjoyed an afternoon hitting the beach for the Mary Cariola Children's Center Saturday.

Students, families and friends of the center participated in the fourth annual event sponsored by the Mary Cariola's Proud Parents Group. Children and young adults of all abilities got to do boardwalk and beach-themed activities.

The event had a fishing' hole, miniature golf, a photo corner, a frame shop, music, and swimming in a therapeutic pool.

"All day long the children are in pretty intense learning situations," said Karen Zandi, the president of the Mary Cariola Children's Center. "So this is a really nice opportunity for parents and staff to engage with one another and have a fun time."

Mary Cariola Children's Center serves 400 children and young adults with multiple and complex disabilities.
