Couple Donates Scholarship Money in Honor of Fallen West Webster Firefighters
A Florida family is honoring the two West Webster firefighters killed in an ambush on Christmas Eve by establishing memorial scholarships at Monroe Community College.
Jim and Christine Wheeler, formerly of Webster, donated $10,000 to be used over the next five years. The scholarships will be for students enrolled in MCC's fire protection technology program.
Firefighters Michael Chiapperini was an MCC alumnus and Tomasz Kaczowka was an MCC student when they were killed responding to a house fire on Christmas Eve.
The first scholarships will be given to students in the fall semester.
