Train tracks in Wayne County are back open now after a Rochester-bound Amtrak train crashed into a car on the tracks Thursday night.

Police say the driver of the car, Daniel Drake, 38, of Fairport, became disoriented and drove off the road. He ended up on the CSX tracks in the Town of Macedon.

Drake and the passengers in his car were able to get out before it was hit by the train and torn in two. No injuries to Amtrak passengers were reported.

The crash caused mechanical issues to the train engine, so all 87 passengers were transferred to buses and taken to Rochester.

The disabled Amtrak train was fixed and moved back to Rochester.

Macedon police charged Drake with failure to keep right for driving off the roadway and becoming lodged on the tracks.
