Governor Cuomo Speaks in Rochester
Governor Andrew Cuomo traveled to Rochester afternoon to deliver his State of the State and Budget Message.

Cuomo spoke to local leaders Thursday afternoon at the Eastman School of Music's Kilbourne Hall.

Anti-Fracking Protest

Opponents of hydrofracking gathered outside Kilbourne Hall, protesting the controversial drilling procedure.

They demand that Governor Cuomo block motions for hydrofracking in the state.

There have been conflicting reports on whether the Governor is prepared to allow limited drilling to take place in some Southern Tier counties.

He re-emphasized points originally made in his address in Albany back in January, including enforcing stricter gun laws like the SAFE Act and bringing more casinos to Upstate New York.

Cuomo also got a standing ovation after calling for a modern Women's Equality Act.

"Let's New York pass a true women's equality act. We were the birthplace of women's equality at Seneca Falls. Start by shattering the glass ceiling, women still make 77 cents to a man's dollar," Cuomo said.

Cuomo's visit came a day after he delivered his budget amendments in Albany, where he discussed changes to the state's medicaid reimbursement rate and teacher evaluations.
