The Niagara Falls police officer facing assault charges has pleaded not guilty in Genesee County Court.

Kelly Alcorn, 47, was arraigned on Tuesday. She is a 23-year veteran of the Niagara Falls Police Department.

She's accused of assaulting a woman in a bathroom during a concert. The alleged incident happened at Darien Lake Theme Park last August.

Although off-duty at the time, Alcorn's attorney says her job is on the line.

"There's been a lot of pressure being brought upon law enforcement and the criminal justice system by the alleged victim in this case and I think that has had its impact, but my client and I both have faith in the criminal justice system," said Norman Effman, Alcorn's lawyer.

Alcorn is currently suspended without pay.

Her next court date is May 2nd.
